Grout that never comes clean

Standard cement grout behind a range absorbs grease, darkens and then resists everything short of a blade. Narrow joints and a quality sealer, or an epoxy grout, change that outcome entirely.

Heat-shocked tile

Glass and some natural stone behave badly with intense localised heat. Ceramic and porcelain handle a range wall without drama and cost less.

Adhesive failure

Tiles popping off above a stove usually means the wrong adhesive or an unprepared wall behind them — not bad tile.

The unplanned hood height

The splash has to stop cleanly at the base of the hood. If the hood moves later, the tile line looks wrong forever.
